REORGNIZATION 2025

WHAT IS REORG?

In the coming months, the Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) will undergo a bottom-up reorganization in which all precinct, county, and state committees will be re-elected. To participate in reorganization with the Hart County Dems, you must be a registered Democrat and live in Hart County.

The entire Executive Committee will be up for reappointment shall be a 10 person committee (at minimum) with an equal number of men and women. A person does not need to be present at the County Convention to be elected to the Executive Committee (as long as they let us know if you are interested even if you can't attend on the day.)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We will be looking to fill our precinct committees with one man, one woman, and one youth in each of the 5 precincts in Hardin County. According to the Kentucky Democratic Party bylaws, a "youth" is considered any individual under 40. The goal is for every precinct to have a man, woman and youth representing them for the County Reorganization.

The precincts directly match up with who your local Magistrate is (Kate Kenny, Ricky Alvey, Ronald Riordan, Doug Wells or Lee Miles.) If you don't know who your Magistrate is, you can look it up by checking your voter registration  through the Secretary of State, or we can find it out together at Reorg!

The reorganization takes place in two parts: Precinct Reorg and County Reorg. Groups will form in correspondence to precincts and three representatives will be chosen (one man, woman and youth) to represent that specific precinct as 'Precinct Captains.' Those positions will be for that day only and the only commitment you have will conclude the same day.

Once the Precinct Reorganization happens, the County Reorganization will occur. If all Precinct Captain spots are filled, it will be 15 individuals (3 for each of the 5 precincts) that conduct the County Reorganization. The representatives of each precinct will then vote for who will represent the Democratic Party on the Hart County Democratic Party Executive Committee for the next four years.

You do not have to be physically present to be considered for the Executive Committee (although it's beneficial to tell captains why you should be chosen.) If you can't be present (but want to serve on the Committee, you can send someone to advocate in your place or contact a Party Member through or Facebook, Instagram or Email so your interest will at least be acknowledged once it comes time to vote.

The Executive Committee that will be formed at the conclusion of Reorganization will be the body that is tasked with leading the Hart County Democratic Party forward for the next four years. By taking a part in the reorganization, you are only committing yourself to the reorg, but we hope you will continue to be involved and help us make Hart County great for everyone!
