As a mother of four and a grandmother of six, Karen has a unique perspective on how the State House and Senate in Frankfort are not working for us. A local business owner originally from Barren, but has set her roots in Hart County, Karen has called Senate District 9 home before it was drawn. Raised in a farming community, Karen knows about working hard to provide for a family. Not only a local cake decorator but the Owner and Operator of "Ice Me Up!" shave ice, Karen isn't a politician: she didn't even plan to run!

But with Frankfort's opposition to the working person, someone had to run and Karen stepped up to the plate. With the threat of your school funding tax dollars being spent on private and charter schools, bills targeted to make the lives of average Kentuckians even more difficult, and mind-boggling wastes of time: it's time for a change.

It's not about politics. It's about making sure that your voice in Frankfort is fighting for the things that matter: better-paying jobs, keeping businesses here, making sure that the water is safe to drink, and making sure you don't have to block a month out of your calendar just to get your driver's license renewed. There are too many barriers in the way of the common folk to be able to work to live instead of scraping to just survive. 

It's past time for someone to represent us who thinks that there's more to life than just surviving! Let's get some things fixed around here!
